Welcome to the beautiful and quaint town of Donald, Oregon. The City has a rich history in agriculture, industry, business, and family. Sometime during the period of 1840 to 1860 Donald was first settled by farmers and loggers from the Midwest. By the early 1900’s Donald was a main station for the Oregon Electric Railway. From its railway heritage is how the city’s name came about. The City was named after R.L. Donald who was an official of the construction company that built the railway. The railroad in Donald is heavily used today. Donald became an incorporated city December 6, 1912 and 2012 marked the City’s 100th anniversary.

The City is located 24 miles south of Portland and 27 miles north of Salem in the stunning Willamette Valley. Champoeg State Heritage Park, which is one of the State of Oregon’s most notable landmarks, is just four miles west. Six miles east of town is Wes Lematta Field at Aurora State Airport, Oregon’s third busiest airport. Donald’s unique location provides easy access to some of Oregon’s biggest cities and attractions while remaining a small rural community.

Adopt A Road Program

Adopt a Road Program is here in Donald! Thank you to Citizen Lauren Ostrander for volunteering her time to get the program up and running. Lauren put all the documents in place and gained the approval from the City Council. Thank you Lauren for all your hard work and time.
If you are interested in volunteering to participate in the program please contact the Director of Public Works, Alonso Limones. There are four locations in Donald, including the two city parks that people can volunteer to keep clean. After successful completion of keeping the location tidy then you or your group’s name put onto a sign at the site in recognition of your efforts and diligence.
It gets better… Donald’s Public Work Supply, a store located at 10751 Oak Street, donated all the garbage pickers and safety vests. Public Works Supply Owner Linda Hill, citizen Lauren Ostrander and son Shawn are pictured. The City of Donald depends on leaders and volunteers to keep the City looking good and running smooth.
Thank you Linda and Lauren for stepping up to the plate!
