City Manager, City of Donald, Oregon
Salary: $105,000 to $120,000 annually, plus excellent benefits.
The City of Donald is seeking a team oriented and community minded leader to serve as our next City Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to guide an evolving community in the heart of Oregon's growing mid-Willamette Valley.

As the chief administrative officer of the City, this position works closely with the Mayor, City Council, department leaders, employees, and community to implement the Council's vision, goals, and budget, oversee City operations, and ensure the effective delivery of municipal services.

The ideal candidate will understand the role of a working City Manager in a small organization with limited resources. The City Manager must be a team leader who can take up the Council’s policies and effectively formulate them to ensure budgets and timelines are met. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of Oregon’s budget laws, planning laws, personnel management principles and practices, and one who can effectively delegate and supervise the work of others while maintaining their own workload. The ideal candidate will be collaborative and effectively engage the business community and others, and foster volunteerism in the community.
A City Manager who can involve multi-cultural groups in the City is desired and bilingual language skills are a plus.
While the City Charter does not have an in-city residency requirement, the City Council is looking for someone who will become actively involved in the community, and residency would be valued. If not living within the city, it would be desirable for the City Manager to reside approximately 30 minutes from the City to respond to City needs and emergencies in a timely manner.
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, political science, public policy, planning, or a related field, with 3 to 5 years of local government experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Oregon local government experience is preferred.

The City welcomes applications from veterans. Any veteran meeting the minimum requirements of the job will be welcome in the first round of interviews.

In general, work will be performed entirely in the office rather than remotely or in a hybrid fashion.

Application Process
Applications will be accepted through August 9, 2026. The Council will decide which candidates to interview on August 17, and in-person interviews are tentatively scheduled for August 24th and 25th.
