CHERYL STONE UNANIMOUSLY SELECTED AS CITY MANAGER FINALIST

The City has unanimously selected Cheryl Stone as its finalist for the City Manager position and has extended an offer of employment pending contract negotiations. Ms. Stone brings more than two decades of public-sector lead-ership experience, beginning with the Oregon Judicial Department before serv-ing in municipal court leadership roles with the cities of Salem and Eugene and most recently in La Paz County, Arizona.
“I am honored to be selected as the finalist for City Manager,” Stone said. “I look forward to working with the City Council, staff, and community and helping the City build on its strengths and prepare for the future.”
The City received approximately a dozen applications for the position. With assistance from the Mid-Willamette Valley Council of Governments, the Council completed two rounds of interviews with the leading candidates. City staff also interviewed the two finalists and provided feedback.
The offer remains contingent upon successful reference and background checks. The City Council is expected to consider an employment agreement at its regular October 13 Council meeting
